One of our ongoing, core goals is to help you spend as little time as possible in-between uploading a project and getting a quote. The most important part of automatically generating a quote is the BOM. Recently, we've made some improvements to simplify the BOM reconciliation process:
Improved automatic reconciliation
To recap, auto-reconciliation is the process of automatically selecting parts for your BOM lines the moment that you upload your design files. Previously, our system only auto-reconciled BOM lines that contained concrete part numbers. We recently made improvements to this process so that more cases will be auto-reconciled and a wider range of annotation styles and preferences are covered. Our system will now auto-reconcile the following:
Manufacturer part numbers
Distributor part numbers
Part numbers in the "Value" property
Embedded Octopart IDs
We now also suggest part selection based on annotated package, resistance/capacitance, tolerance, power rating, and voltage rating.
CSV BOM upload
In case you missed the announcement, you may now upload your BOM for automatic reconciliation along with your design files.
Part status BOM filters
When viewing your BOM, it should be easy to find any lines that need attention before placing an order. We built three main filter views:
All parts: A complete look at all the parts in your BOM.
Missing parts: This view shows any BOM lines that have not been reconciled, either automatically or manually, yet.
Sourcing problems: Any selected parts that may not be available in the market or have issues like a large minimum order quantity (MOQ) will be shown in this filter.
In addition to these 3 filter views, you can also sort your BOM by price, footprints, references, symbols, and through hole pads.
UI improvements
We've made several nuanced improvements to the BOM UI in order to provide an inherently better experience. These include increased information density, better highlighting of BOM issues for quick resolution, and differentiated colors that guides your attention to important elements.
These are just a few of the updates that have been made to our BOM management recently. If you found these BOM improvements useful, then you'll appreciate some major changes we are planning to roll-out in a few months. Subscribe to our newsletter to get alerted when new features land!
In this episode we're happy to welcome back Brett Babilonia, who we spoke to way back in episode 3 and 4 on the show. In addition to purchasing, Brett also handles a lot of quoting at Worthington. We often get asked how we quote boards, is there a magical formula, and figured Brett is the perfect person to speak on this topic.

In the world of electronics manufacturing, where precision and protection against invisible threats are paramount, the choice of plastic bagging isn't just about storage. It's a strategic decision that can mean the difference between a healthy semiconductor and a compromised one. Let's dive into the differences between various types of plastic bags in an electronics manufacturing operation
