The public Chinese Spring Festival (aka Chinese New Year) is quickly approaching and will begin at the end of January 2022. While the holiday is officially only a week long, its effects on the manufacturing industry are much longer.
Here's what you can expect this year:
- Our overseas suppliers will be closed from January 27 to February 7. We expect that the last day they will be able to accept new orders for shipment before their closures will be around January 20. Depending on demand nearing the time, that date could be sooner.
- As of late, we have noticed some shipping delays from DHL. We anticipate these delays will get worse during the holiday period.
- Closures of our overseas suppliers will be accounted for in the quoting algorithm both in terms of available lead times and pricing.
- Our lead time guarantee continues to be suspended during this time.
- We do not normally source components from Asia, but due to the current global shortage we have had to make exceptions in some cases. Please expect parts to be subject to the same delays.
We know this is a stressful time for those trying to get things made. Here's what we recommend:
- Don't wait to place your orders. We recommended placing time-sensitive orders by the week of January 10 at the latest. The earlier in advance you are able to place your order, the less likely it will be to experience delays. It is common for delays to last up to a month or more after the official end of the holiday.
- Notify us of time-sensitive orders ahead of time. Due to the increased pressure and demand put on our suppliers during this time, there is a chance that even if you put an order through the week before factory closures, it may be delayed until after the holiday.
- If you are looking for a faster lead time during the holiday period than what our quoting algorithm is showing please get in touch. Our US board facilities remain open to help with all your quick turn needs, but also experience a surge in demand during this time.
We apologize in advance for this inconvenience. If you have any questions on what to expect during these closures or how they may affect your orders, please don't hesitate to reach out.
